Can I trust SnowShepherd as a brand?
Snowshepherd was founded in 2009 by Tim Shepherd, an experienced winter sports enthusiast and mountain expert. Our gloves have been tested in extreme conditions, including off-piste courses in Chamonix. They have been officially chosen by the French national ski organization ESF. Feel free to read our customer reviews on Trustpilot, Bol.com, and our own website; we average a 4.9 out of 5.
Why should I order from SnowShepherd and not from a sports store?
In a store, you pay for rent, staff, and retail margin. We deliver directly to you, without intermediaries. This means you get significantly more quality for the same money: first-grade cowhide leather, Hipora® waterproof insert, Thinsulate™ insulation, and CORDURA® cuffs, materials you'll rarely find in this price range in an average sports store.
Which payment methods do you accept?
You can pay via iDEAL, Bancontact, PayPal, Klarna (pay later), Visa, Mastercard, American Express, Apple Pay, Google Pay, Shop Pay, and Maestro. All payments are securely processed via the checkout.
How can I get in touch?
You can reach us via the live chat at the bottom right of the website, via Instagram (@snowshepherdnl), or by phone at 06-22718247. We are always here to help.
Do you have a physical store?
No, SnowShepherd is an online webshop. By selling exclusively online, we can keep our costs low and offer the best price-quality ratio.
What is the difference between ski gloves and ski mittens?
Ski gloves have separate fingers, giving you more control over your ski poles and lift pass systems. Ski mittens bundle your fingers together for more warmth, ideal in extreme cold. Snowshepherd offers both in the same premium leather quality. Rule of thumb: the colder it is, the more you benefit from mittens.
What are lobster mittens (3-finger mittens)?
Lobster mittens have a separate index finger and bundle the other fingers together. This gives you the warmth of a mitten and the pole control of a glove. Perfect for cold, demanding ski days when you still want to maintain grip and control.
Which glove is the warmest?
Mitts are always warmer than gloves. For extreme cold, the Guide Pro Mitts and the Gauntlet Mitts are the best choice. They are equipped with 150–200g Thinsulate™ insulation and tested down to -30°C.
Are your gloves water-resistant?
Yes. The cowhide leather is naturally water-repellent. The Guide Pro line also has a built-in Hipora® waterproof insert for extra protection. Regularly treat your gloves with leather grease or wax to maintain their water repellency.
How do I choose the right size?
Measure the circumference of your hand at the widest point, just below the knuckles, excluding the thumb. Then consult our size chart on the website. If in doubt, we always recommend the larger size: leather has a short break-in period and will mould to your hand. A glove that is too tight will restrict blood circulation and thus warmth.
How long do the gloves last?
With proper care, SnowShepherd gloves can easily last 5 to 10+ years. Leather improves with age: it molds to your hand and develops character. We offer a 1-year warranty on craftsmanship. If they wear out in that first year due to intensive use, we will replace them free of charge.
Are the gloves also suitable for snowboarding?
Absolutely. The thick cowhide leather offers extra protection in the event of a fall, while the reinforced palm ensures grip on your board and bindings. Many snowboarders opt for the Gauntlet Mittens because of the extra-long cuff that fits well over the sleeve of a snowboard jacket.
How do I care for leather ski gloves?
Always dry wet gloves at room temperature, never on a radiator or in a dryer. Afterwards, treat them with a leather grease or beeswax to keep the leather supple and water-repellent. Remove dirt with a damp cloth and do not use aggressive cleaning agents. Store them in a dry, airy place.
Why are leather gloves better than synthetic ones?
Synthetic gloves last one to two seasons on average. Leather molds to your hand for a perfect fit, is naturally breathable and moisture-wicking, and gets stronger with age. In the long run, leather gloves are both more cost-effective and more environmentally friendly.
